Cheryl Welp – LCM Award Recipient

JASPER (From Sources) – Cheryl Welp has been named the 2015 recipient of the Little Company of Mary Award at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. The LCM Award is given annually to an employee nominated by his or her co-workers and chosen from a group of finalists by the hospital’s Mission Committee. Nominees for this award demonstrate Memorial Hospital’s mission and core values through their daily work.

Other nominees for this year’s award included Jill Barnett, Rehabilitation Services; Rhonda Broerman, Medical Practice Management; Vanessa Dedrick, Critical Care Services; Cathy Evans, Critical Care Services; Allyson Hoffman, Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center; LeAnn Jochim, Post-Surgical Services; Mick Kamman, Security; Janalee May, Cardiopulmonary Services; Scotty Munning, Faith Community Nursing; Connie Overbey, Materials Management; Abby Recker, Medical Services; Elvia Sandoval, Huntingburg Urgent Care; and Heather Terwiske, Behavioral Health Services.

Welp has worked at Memorial Hospital for the past 15 years and serves as the Executive Director of Post-Acute Services and Administrator for the Skilled Caring Center. Upon receiving the award, Welp stated, “I am honored and touched by this award as I am a ‘work’ in progress. I try to live by the saying, ‘When I know better, I try to do better.’ I feel blessed to work for Memorial Hospital, and I’m appreciative of all the wonderful people I have gotten to work with through the years. I am so honored to have been nominated with so many deserving candidates.”

She was born and raised in Celestine where she currently resides with her husband, Bob. She has two daughters, Kelsey and Brittany. Welp concluded, “I must share this award with my family as they have been my biggest supporters through the years. I couldn’t do the things I do without their understanding and encouragement.”
