Jewanna Mattice, 83, Holland

Jewanna MatticeJewanna Mattice, 83, of Holland, died Saturday (December 5) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, June 25, 1932, to Oscar and Fannie (Godsey) Shumate.

Jewanna was a retired nurse. She enjoyed singing southern gospel music and was active in her home church in Corbin, Kentucky, where she taught bible school.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Jones and wife Becky, Holland, and Jimmy Jones and wife Donna, Francisco; two step-daughters, Debbie Clausen, Ripon, Wisconsin, and Lois Mattice, Berlin, Wisconsin; two step-sons, Hank and Eugene Mattice, both of Berlin, Wisconsin; one brother, Glenn Shumate, Corbin, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; and a numbere of great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eugene Mattice, who died in 2003, two daughters, Donna Lane and Judy Oberhausen; three brothers, Jim, Tom, and Don Shumate, and one sister, Vera Bruce.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. (EST) Tuesday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Condolences may be shared online at Funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial following in the Spurgeon Cemtery.
