Holland Man Faces Felony Traffic Offender Charge; SUV Strikes Gas Pump (BLOTTER)



HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – A traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Holland man on several charges, including a felony count of driving while being a habitual traffic offender.

Huntingburg police say they arrested 48-year old David Gabberd shortly before 9:00PM after stopping his pickup track at Sixth and Van Buren streets.

HPD says a records check of Gabberd found that he did not have a valid driver’s license and that he was a habitual traffic violator.

After giving police consent to search his pickup truck, HPD officers says they found 100 grams of the synthetic cannabinoid known as K2 and a glass smoking pipe.

HPD says Gabberd admitted the items were his.

He now faces a Level 6 felony count of driving while being classified as a habitual offender, plus misdemeanor counts of possession of a synthetic drug and possession of paraphernalia.


A Trip To The Store Resulted In A Local Man Being Taken To Jail

JASPER (NNDC) – A Jasper man was arrested Friday evening after an Indiana State Trooper smelled what was described as the “strong odor” of marijuana on the main after he entered a local convenience store.

After smelling the marijuana odor on the man inside the Huck’s store at 230 Third Avenue, ISP says the trooper went outside and says he also smelled the marijuana odor coming from the man’s car.

Arrested was 21-year old Dylan Crays of Jasper after marijuana was located inside the car.

Crays is charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.


Jasper Man Arrested After His SUV Strikes Gas Pump

JASPER (NNDC) – A Jasper man was charged with obstruction of justice and for refusing to take a blood alcohol test after his SUV struck a gas pump at the Huck’s store on the westside of the Jasper “Y” Saturday afternoon.

Jasper police say 20-year old Justin Wright appeared to be under the influence when they arrived on scene at about 2:00PM.

JPD says Wright refused all B.A.C. testing and was taken into custody.


Local Man Cited After Jasper Accident

JASPER (NNDC) – A local man was cited following an accident near 15th and Greene streets Sunday afternoon.

20-year old Local Ruckriegel of rural Jasper says he was driving east on 15th near Greene at about 2:30PM when he says he heard a loud noise and his car began shaking uncontrollably.

Ruckriegel told Jasper police his car suddenly pulled to the right, causing his vehicle to hit the rear of a parked car.

The second car was unoccupied.  It belongs to Stephanie Secino.  It was parked in front of her home.

JPD says Ruckriegel was cited for having an expired license plate on his car.
