Mary Ann Recker, 76, Jasper

Mary Ann ReckerMary Ann Recker, 76, of Jasper, died Friday (December 4) at her home. She was born in Oxford, Florida, September 11, 1939, to Butler and Katie (Crenshaw) Lewis. Her first marriage was to Paul Frank Steltenpohl, Sr. He died February 26, 1973. She married Jay Recker July 3, 1974, in Jasper.

Mary Ann was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church of Jasper. She was an Elvis fan, and an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Indiana University basketball fan. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Recker; six daughters, Angela Denton, Paula Breeding, Tina Slayton and husband Todd, Alice Woosley, and Lori Toby and husband Stephen, all of Jasper, and Patricia Hammond and husband Warren, Warner Robins, Georgia; one son, Paul Frank Steltenpohl, Jr., and wife Cindy, Jasper; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Osteen and husband Carl, Pedro, Florida; and three brothers, Mack Lewis and wife Janice and Joe Lewis, all of Ocala, Florida, and Moe Lewis and wife Gloria, Minden, Louisiana.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church of Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with burial following in Enlow Cemetery. Pastor Darrel Land will officiate.
