James D. Neuman, 84, Huntingburg

James NeumanJames D. Neuman, 84, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (December 5) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg April 14, 1931, to Walter and Dena (Hoffman) Neuman. He married Ruth Heidorn August 20, 1955, at Salem Church in Huntingburg.

Jim was a retired telephone lineman. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holland American Legion Post No. 343 and Quail Unlimited. He enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, and was a fisherman and coon hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Neuman; two daughters, Elaine Caraway and husband Dwight, Jasper, and Jacque Lueken and husband John, Huntingburg; two sons, Russell Neuman and wife Donna, and Phillip Neuman, all of Huntingburg; two sisters, Marge Bohnert, Jasper, and Dorothy Kluesner, San Diego, Californa; two brothers, Robert Neuman, Westville, Illinois, and Charles Neuman, Princeton; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. (EST) Monday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. The Holland American Legion memorial detail will conduct military graveside rites. Rev. Debbie Roe will officiate.
