Albert “Al” Boeglin, 84, Jasper

Al BoeglinAlbert “Al” Boeglin, 84, of Jasper, died Saturday (December 5) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. Al was born in Chicago September 22, 1931, to Albert and Elisabeth (Fritz) Boeglin. He married Anna Mae Knies May 4, 1957. She died February 22, 1979.

Al retired from Ruxer Ford in Jasper where he worked as a salesman for nearly 40 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in Korea. He was a member of VFW Post No. 673 and American Legion Post No. 147. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed flying RC airplanes and was a co-founder of the Jasper RC Flyers Club. He also enjoyed watching auto racing.

He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl “Cheri” Boeglin-Casanova and husband Robert, St. Louis; three sons, Brian Boeglin and wife Stephanie, St. Louis, Bart Boeglin and wife Julie, Mooresville, North Carolina, and Brett Boeglin, Jasper; nine grandchildren, Bryce, Davis, Jack, Anna, Kate, Noah, and Reed Boeglin, and Adam and Emma Casanova; one sister, Mary Ann Huls, Jasper, and two brothers, Dave Ernst and wife Linda, and Fred Ernst and wife Charlotte, all of Jasper.

Friends may call from 9-11 Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Sacred Heart Church or St. Joseph Church. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church with burial following in the church cemetery. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites.
