Dubois Woman Caught With Drugs While Being Booked Into Jail

JASPER (NNDC) – A Dubois woman is facing drug possession charges after jailers at the Dubois County Security Center found “legend drugs” in her possession as she was being booked into the jail on a driving while suspended conviction.

A “legend drug” is a medication that cannot be obtained legally without a prescription from a licensed health care provider.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 29-year old Tara James was being booked into the local jail early Monday afternoon to begin serving a 60-day stay for DWS.  DCSD says while she was being processed into the jail, jailers searched and two legend drugs in her possession of which were not prescribed to her.  DCSD says James attempted to hide the drugs while in her possession and smuggle them into the secure section of the jail.

She now faces a Level 6 felony count of Possession of a Legend Drug and one Class A misdemeanor count of Trafficking with an Inmate.
