James R. “Jim” Brown, 83, Huntingburg

James BrownJames R. “Jim” Brown, 83, of Huntingburg, died Monday (November 23) at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Huntingburg June 16, 1932, to Leonard and Hazel (Revel) Brown. He married Margaret E. Lemond June 20, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Jim was a truck driver and retired from Buchta Trucking. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He enjoyed playing Wii sports, watching westerns on television, and spending time with his family. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling through the mountains.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret E. Brown; five daughters, Diana Jochum and husband Otto, Ferdinand, Linda Zahn and husband Walter (Terry), Evansville, Babette Mathies and husband Dave, Jasper, Barbara Lubbehusen and husband David, Huntingburg, and Dawn Parnell and husband Ryan, Chugiak, Alaska; three sons, Jim Brown Jr., Taswell, John Brown and wife Donna, Iva, and Joe Brown and wife Linda, Dale; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Lee, Dallas, and Jack Brown; four sisters, Charlotte Seibert, Maxine Faye Mendel, Dorothy Miller, and a sister who died in infancy; and by three grandchildren.

Friends may call frin 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (EST) Friday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial following in Mayo Cemetery near Duff.
