Virginia T. Schepers, 72, Celestine

Viginia SchepersVirginia T. Schepers, 72, of Celestine, died Wednesday (November 18) at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born in Huntingburg December 19, 1942, to Marinus and Agnes (Welp) Durcholz. She married Gerald H. Schepers June 29, 1963, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper. He died July 27, 2011.

Virginia was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church and its St. Ann’s Society, the Celestine Community Club, and the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, volunteering at church, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Schepers, Louisville, Karen Reynard and husband Robert, and Janice Schepers, all of Indianapolis, and Elaine Kreilein and husband Andrew, Bretzville; four sons, Dennis Schepers, St. Croix, Douglas Schepers, Celestine, Marvin Schepers and wife Janessa, Otwell, and Larry Schepers, Dubois; three grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Mehringer and husband Arnold, Jasper, Dolores Steckler and husband Keith, Haubstadt, and Marie Blessinger and husband Arnold, Holland; one sister-in-law, Ruth Durcholz, Indianapolis; and six brothers, James Durcholz and wife Betty, Ferdinand, John Durcholz and wife Alvia, Florida., Robert Durcholz and wife Jane, Bretzville, LeRay Durcholz and wife Pat, Ireland, Vincent Durcholz and wife Rose, St. Anthony, and Louis Durcholz, Bretzville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar Durcholz.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Celestine St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 11:45 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department or to St. Celestine Church.
