Gun Pulled During Family Argument; Local Man Ends Up In Jail

JASPER (NNDC) – A rural Jasper man was arrested early Friday afternoon after police say he pulled out and brandished a handgun at the height of a family argument.

Dubois County and Jasper police were called to a home in the 600 block of West 400 North at about 12:30PM.

Police say a family member had come to the home to talk with 56-year old John Schepers about an incident that happened the night before.

Police say the argument became “heated,” and Schepers pulled out a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at the family member.

Other family members at the house were able to knock the gun out of Schepers’ hand and restrain him until authorities arrived.

Schepers was arrested for Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon and Pointing a Loaded Firearm.
