Town of Ferdinand Adds $80,000 to Community Endowment

FERDINAND (Local Sources) – The recent 175th celebration in the town of Ferdinand raised $80,000 for its community endowment. The announcement came at the Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce Annual dinner this past Thursday.

The gift brings the Ferdinand Community Endowment’s total to over $185,000, nearly doubling its asset base.

“As a committee, one of the first decisions made was to determine how the proceeds would be used,” said Pat Miller, Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce vice president and Foundation Board president. “It was felt by all involved that growing this endowment remains a priority for our community,” he said.

The Ferdinand Community Endowment was established in 2001 to provide support for the people of Ferdinand and its surrounding area for a variety of charitable causes. Recent grants from the Ferdinand Community Endowment include funding for a new sidewalk at the Ferdinand Community Center and support to the Ferdinand Folk Fest and Forest Park Band Boosters.

“This contribution is an inspiration to the entire county,” noted Brad Ward, CEO Dubois County Community Foundation. “It inspires each of our towns and communities to invest in the future and ensure lasting resources for a better, brighter place.
