Clara Mae Stenftenagel, 76, Jasper

Clara MaeClara Mae Stenftenagel, 76, of Jasper, died Tuesday (November 10) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Jasper July 17, 1939, to Fred and Georgina (Marks) Stenftenagel.

Clara Mae was a 1957 graduate of Ireland High School and a graduate with a B.S. degree from St. Benedict College in Ferdinand. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and its St. Ann’s Society. She worked as a cosmetologist, a teacher for various schools, for Kimball Stylemasters, and retired from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She was an avid Indiana University basketball and St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and had a great love for the arts and books.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlene Stenftenagel and Helen Lowe, both of Jasper; two brothers, Hubert Stenftenagel and wife Mary, and Mike Stenftenagel and wife Sue, all of Celestine; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Biles, Martha Bemben, and Alicia Stenftenagel, and one brother; Silas “Si” Stenftenagel.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity.
