Girls On The Run Registration Opens

Girls on the Run smallJASPER (From Sources) – Registration is open for the Girls on the Run Spring 2016 Season and continues through Sunday, November 22. To register go to Scholarships are available. Teams are limited in size so early registration is suggested.

Girls on the Run, an international non-profit, is a positive youth development program designed for girls in grades 3 to 5. The second season for the program begins February 8 and runs through April 30. New this season, several sessions are offered at Tenth Street, Ireland, and Holy Trinity East Campus elementary schools in Jasper to accommodate participants. The program is also expanding into the Southeast Dubois County School district and vicinity, with sessions offered after school at the Tri-County YMCA and evening sessions at Ferdinand Elementary. Transportation from school to the YMCA will be available. The sessions are as follows:

Tenth Street: Monday and Wednesday 3:00-4:45 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 3:00-4:45 p.m.

Ireland Elementary: Monday and Wednesday 3:00-4:45 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 3:00-4:45 p.m.

Holy Trinity East Campus: Monday and Wednesday 2:45-4:30 p.m.; Monday and Wednesday 5:30-7:00 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Tri-County YMCA: Monday and Wednesday -After School 5:15 p.m. (transportation is available); Tuesday and Thursday – After School 5:15 p.m. (transportation is available)

Ferdinand Elementary: Monday and Wednesday 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Girls on the Run is seeking coaches for its program. Volunteer coaches are trained to lead their teams of 15 girls throughout the 10-week season. Other volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, a 5K Race Day volunteer or Running Buddy. The goal is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Girls are inspired to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun experience based curriculum that creatively integrates running.
