FERDINAND (NNDC) – Francis Lindauer and his family were honored Thursday night at the Annual Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce annual dinner which was more of a continuation of the town’s 175th Celebration which is taking place in 2015.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Town of Ferdinand’s Community Service Award which was presented posthumously to Francis Lindauer, a lifelong farmer who Sicard says “loved Ferdinand.”    Lindauer passed away October 8th at the age of 87.  Sicard presented the award to his wife Juliana.  22 members of the Lindauer family were in attendance Thursday.

As part of the award presentation, Sicard showed the large crowd gathered Thursday night at the Ferdinand Community Center, a video of a NewsNow Dubois County report that featured Lindauer.  The report was from February 23, 2015 on “Ferdinand Day” at the Dubois County Museum.  The event was one of the early events of the 175th Celebration.

Sicard says the success of the 175th Celebration is not a testament to the community, but also to all of Dubois County in celebrating “our rich history.”

Indiana Governor Mike Pence was the featured speaker for the annual dinner which was also attended by Sue Ellpersmann, the current Lt. Governor who is from Ferdinand.
