Stan Schroeder2Stanley R. Schroeder, 58, of Jasper, died Tuesday (November 30) at his home. He was born in Newfoundland, Canada, December 27, 1956, to William and Sarah “Margaret” (Huff) Schroeder.

Stan was a casino dealer for the French Lick Springs Resort, where he worked since the casino’s opening. He was also owner/operator of S.S. Cleaning.

Stan was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Ft. Knox, and a 1976 graduate of Jasper Hih School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his companion, Ann Cochran; one son, Luke Schroeder and companion Amanda Hunter, Jasper; one daughter, Tracy Brasfield, Bloomington, Illinois; two sisters, Monica Bohnert and husband Robert, Sparta, Illinois, and Cheryl Humbert and husband Glenn, Jasper; three brothers, Mel Schroeder and wife Patti, Ferdinand, and Terry and Rod Schroeder, Jasper; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity. VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
