Entrapped Delivery Driver Lifeflighted From Accident Near Crystal

CRYSTAL – A delivery truck driver was lifeflighted to an Evansville hospital Monday afternoon following an accident Monday afternoon along Indiana 56 west of Crystal.

The driver, 21-year old Levi Dalton of Williams, Indiana was eastbound on Indiana 56 when for some unknown reason, his truck went left of center.  The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says Dalton, a driver for Schwan’s Food Company out of its Washington, Indiana location, was able to get his truck back into the eastbound lane, but then the truck went off the southside of the highway and crashed into a ditch near Dubois Road Northeast.

DCSD says Dalton was trapped inside the truck until first responders arrived on scene shortly before 4:30PM.  He was freed from the heavily damaged truck after members of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department cut through the roof of the truck’s cab.

DCSD says Dalton was taken by ambulance to a temporary landing zone set up at the Dubois Crossroads (Indiana 56 and Indiana 454 intersection).

Dalton was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville where he is listed in good condition today (Tuesday).
