Area Students Named To 2016 U. S. Army All-American Band; Ceremonies Announced

Denny-Spinner-2015JASPER (NNDC) – Two Forest Park High School Marching Rangers and one Jasper Marching Wildcat have been named to the 2016 U. S. Army All-American Marching Band.

Forest Park mellophone player Leslie Blume and saxophonist Jackson Faulker were named to the prestigious honor band as was JHS tuba player Taylor Schmitt.

The three are among the 125 high school musicians selected each year for the All-American Band.

Students are nominated by their high school band directors.  Jasper’s Bradley Gehlhausen was the most recent local high school student to make the honor band.  He did so in 2014.

Blume and Faulkner will be recognized and presented with their honorary All-American marching band jackets in a ceremony Thursday morning at FPHS.  The ceremony will take place at 10:45AM in FPHS’ Buechler Arena.

Schmitt will be recognized during a student convocation Friday at JHS. The convocation and ceremony will follow a performance by the JHS band of their state-final show in front of the student body, faculty and parents at 2:00PM Friday.

The band performance will take place in east parking lot at JHS. The convocation and ceremony will take place inside at the JHS gym.

Meanwhile, the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band will perform at halftime of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl which takes place Saturday, January 9th at the AlamoDome in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be televised on NBC beginning at 1PM.
