Marlene M. Merder, 70, Jasper

Marlene Merder useMarlene M. Merder, 70, of Jasper, died Thursday (October 29) at her home. She was born in Ferdinand September 15, 1945, to August and Alma (Schnell) Brosmer. She married Tony Merder June 29, 1963, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Marlene was a private home health care provider. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and its St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, the VFW Post No. 673 Auxiliary, and the Women of the Jasper Moose Lodge 1175. She enjoyed bingo, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Tony Merder; two sons, Dean Merder and wife Donna, Santa Claus, and Dwain Merder and wife Lisa, Jasper; two daughters, Dana Berger and husband Tim, Jasper, and Danielle Schnell and husband Lee, Celestine; eleven grandchildren, Devon, Delany, Shelby, Carly, and Riley Merder, Colten and Chloe Berger, and Corbyn, Maddox, Raynie, and Kinley Schnell.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Rickelman and Shirley A. Barth.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Ann’s Society and Jasper Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 3:45 p.m. The Women of the Jasper Moose will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Church with burial to following in Fairview Cemetery.
