Huntingburg Man Charged With Child Molesting, Sexual Misconduct With A Minor

HUNTINGBURG (From Sources) – In September of 2015 the Huntingburg Police Department, Detective Sergeant Christian L. Gogel, along with the assistance of the Indiana Department of Child Services, launched a child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor investigation, the result of incidents that occurred in April of 2015 until October 2015 in Huntingburg. The police department had received the report from Indiana Department of Child Services. The complaint was of a 13 or 14 year old girl having sexual intercourse with a 20 year old male. After further investigation, Sergeant Gogel filed for a warrant through the Dubois County circuit courts for the arrest of Elvis Adonay Lopez, 20, of North Washington Street in Huntingburg, on charges of child molesting (Level 3 felony) and sexual misconduct with a minor (Level 5 felony). The courts granted the warrant, but police were unable to locate the suspect at that time.

On Friday evening, at approximately 7:30 the Huntingburg Police Department, while searching for the suspect, received information that Lopez was employed at a restaurant in Jasper. With the assistance of the Jasper Police Department, Lopez was detained in Jasper, without incident, and was then transported to the Huntingburg Police Department for questioning. Sergeant Gogel spoke with Lopez at the Huntingburg Police station for further investigation. At approx. 8:30 Lopez was placed under arrest and charged with child molesting and sexual misconduct with a minor. He was processed and then transported to the Dubois County Security Center, were he is being held on a $10,000.00 cash bond.
