Dubois County Maintains Lowest Unemployment Rate In State

laborINDIANAPOLIS (NNDC) – Dubois County again claims the distinction of having the lowest unemployment rate in September among the state’s 92 counties. Estimates, prepared in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), show Dubois County’s unemployment rate at 2.8 percent, just ahead of Hamilton County’s 2.9 rate. Statistics show Dubois County with a labor force of 22,684 with only 628 unemployed. That compares with 684 of 23,123 in August.

The state average is 4.0 percent, down from 4.4 in August. Dubois County’s rate is down from 3.0 in August.

September rates for the eight counties bordering Dubois County are Daviess 3.2, Warrick 3.4, Spencer 3.5, Pike 3.5, Martin 3.6, Perry 3.9, Crawford 4.6, and Orange 5.0. The Evansville MSA rate is 3.6, the Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson MSA rate is 3.8.

Indiana’s rate was 4.5 percent, Kentucky and Michigan 5.0, and Illinois 5.4.
