German Medieval Renaissance Festival This Weekend in Ferdinand

FESTIVAL FOLKS USE USEFERDINAND (NNDC) – What is being billed as “the nation’s first German-themed Renaissance Festival,” is being held this weekend. The Rosenvolk German Medieval Festival gets underway at 5 o’clock this evening on the grounds of the Immaculate Conception, a historic Benedictine Monastery in Ferdinand, built in the Romanesque style and nicknamed The Castle on the Hill.

The festival, which continues through Sunday, features musicians, jugglers, jousters, fire eaters, food, beer, wine, and other spirits. Tonight is a School Day, sponsored by the Hedinger Beverage Company tonight and tomorrow. A Masquerade Ball is scheduled tomorrow night, and the region’s German Catholic heritage will be celebrated Sunday.

Many other events and activities are scheduled through the weekend. For detailed information go to rosenvolkfestival@yahoo.
