Roy Lee Bohnenkamper, 84, Huntingburg

BohnenkamperRoy Lee Bohnenkamper, 84, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (October 10) at his home. He was born in Dale June 22, 1931, to Victor Bohnenkamper, Sr. and Dorothy (Medcalf) Bohnenkamper.

Roy was a graduate of Huntingburg High School and received his Associate’s degree from Vincennes University. He was retired from the Jasper Municipal Water Treatment Plant where he worked for over 30 years. He was also employed by the Dubois County Solid Waste District as a site attendant in Huntingburg. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post No. 2366, and the Huntingburg Bowling League. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Small and husband Larry, Richland; two sons, Tony Bohnenkamper and wife LaDonna, Wyle, Texas, and Todd Bohnenkamper, Colchester, Connecticut; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Curt Bohnenkamper, Peru; two half-sisters, Shirley Hart, Branson, Missouri, and Gail Pries, St. Louis.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Bohnenkamper, Jr., and one sister, Joyce Knust.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday (EDT) at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post No. 2366 memorial detail. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the funeral.
