Francis L. Lindauer, 87, Ferdinand

Francis LindauerFrancis L. Lindauer, 87, of Ferdinand, died Thursday (October 8) at Brookside Village Skilled Nursing Center in Jasper. He was born in S. Henry January 19, 1928, to Otto N. & Bernadine C. (Begle) Lindauer. He married Juliana Weyer May 7, 1949, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Francis was a lifelong dairy farmer and a rural mail carrier for 33 years. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph’s Sodality and a Eucharistic minister there. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Knights of Columbus, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, Ferdinand VFW Post 2366, and Navy Club Ship No 90. He was a member of the Dubois County Museum, and he Early Days Antique Club. He was a steam engine enthusiast and an avid antique collector. He was a recipient of the Brute’ Society through St. Ferdinand Parish, a WW II Navy veteran serving in Atlantic Fleet aboard the USS Suison. In 1956 he was awarded the outstanding farmer of the year award.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juliana Lindauer; two sons, Mike Lindauer and wife Judy and Phil Lindauer and wife Sharon, all of Ferdinand; four daughters, Janice Hochgesang and husband Larry, Sharon Mehling and husband Bill, and Joan Guilloume and husband Bruce all of Ferdinand, and Susan Brames and husband Clarence, St. Anthony; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Alice Jochem, St. Henry, and Margaret Stenftenagel, Jasper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Henrietta Kippenbrock.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Monday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Navy Club Ship No. 90 will have a memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family or tp the Dubois County Museum. Online condolences may be made at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Saint Henry Church wotj biroa; fp;;pwomg om the St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by Ferdinand American Legion Post 124.
