UPDATE: Vehicles Broken Into Over Weekend In Both Jasper & Ferdinand; Police Asking Public For Helping In Finding Who Did It!

JASPER (NNDC) – Jasper police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or people responsible for two vehicle break-ins Saturday night.

JPD says the break-in occurred between 6:00PM & 7:00PM at Full Out Tumble & Cheer on Cathy Lane and at the Animal Medical Center on Crossroads Avenue.

Police say both vehicles had windows smashed out by some type of tool. JPD says women’s purses were taken from both vehicles.

Police are asking the public that if anyone noticed anything suspicious in these two areas Saturday evening they are asked to call JPD headquarters at 812-482-2255 or the local police anonymous tip line at 812-481-COPS (2677).

Meanwhile, Ferdinand police are also asking for help from the public as they look for the person or people who broke into two vehicles at a local restaurant Saturday evening.

FPD says two cars parked behind the Tres Agaves restaurant at the Ferdinand Plaza were broken into sometime between 5:30PM and 8:00PM.  Police say someone smashed windows of  two vehicles and grabbed purses police say were in the front seat of each vehicle. 

FPD says the contents in the two purses totaled about $1,500 and damage to cars was about $400 each.

Police are asking if anyone that witnessed anything suspicious in the area of Ferdinand Plaza (1935 Main Street), they are asked to call FPD at 812-482-9111.

Ferdinand assistant police chief Robert Randle says its too early to tell at this point if the Jasper and Ferdinand break-ins are connected in any way, shape or form.  He says his department is also trying to find out if reported vehicle break-ins over the weekend in Spencer County are connected as well.

Police also reminding the public to keep valuables in the trunk of your vehicles and out of sight if they must remain in the vehicle.
