Steven A. Harris, 68, Huntingburg

Harris editedSteven A. Harris, 68, of Huntingburg, died Thursday (October 1) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg September 19, 1947, to Glenn and Alberta (Fisher) Harris. He married Cynthia L. Frick June 1, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Steven worked 15 years as a coal miner in Illinois and 15 years with the City of Huntingburg and retired recently. He enjoyed playing golf, washing cars, mowing the grass, and New York Yankee baseball. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia L. Harris; one son, Joshua Harris and wife Jennifeer, Palm Harbor, Florida; one daughter, Nicole DeKemper and husband Brian, Huntingburg; one brother, Jim Harris and wife Dolly, Huntingburg; two sisters, Shirley Satkamp, Ireland, and Carolyn Klee and husband Russ, Jasper; and four grandchildren, Maxwell and Dalton Harris and Noah and Sophia DeKemper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Glenda Turpin; and one brother, Jack Harris.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Condolences may be shared online at Funeral services at 4 p.m. (EDT) Saturday at the funeral home with military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post No. 2366 memorial detail. Cremation will take place following the visitation and funeral service.
