Second Person Has Died From Last Week’s UTV/SUV Accident North Of Ferdinand (with VIDEO)

EVANSVILLE (NNDC) – The driver of a utility terrain vehicle involved in a two-vehicle accident last week north of Ferdinand has died; a day after a passenger in the UTV with him succumbed to his injuries.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says 74-year old Edgar Ebert, of Ferdinand died Thursday evening at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville where he had been since the accident on September 17th along Indiana 162, near East 815 South.

Tuesday afternoon, 71-year old Leroy Witte of Ireland, a passenger in the UTV died of head and chest injuries he suffered in the accident.  Both men were taken to St. Mary’s following the accident.

Ebert and Witte were brothers-in-law.  Ebert was married to Witte’s sister Alberta who preceded both in death.

The driver of the SUV that was involved in the accident was not injured.  A dog in the UTV also died.
