Burn Ban Issued for Dubois County

BurnBanSign-2JASPER (NNDC) – A burn ban has been issued for Dubois County, effective immediately. The ban, issued by the Dubois County commissioners and the Dubois County fire chiefs, will stay in effect until further notice.

The ban was issued due to the prolonged period of drought locally and lack of rainfall creating an extreme fire hazard throughout the county.

The ban prohibits: 1. Open burning of any kind using conventional fuel such as wood or other combustible matter. 2. The burning of debris, such as timber or vegetation, including debris that results from building construction activities. 3. Campfires and other recreational fires such as burn pits and bonfires. The only exceptions are grills fueled by charcoal briquettes or propane.
