Impaired Auto Thief Crashes Stolen SUV Into Fire Hydrant

JASPER (NNDC) – Jasper police say a local man stole an SUV and then crashed it into a fire hydrant late Friday night.

JPD says 27-year old Willie Mongomery was under the influence of several prescription medications when he crashed the vehicle shortly before midnight near 25th and Mill Street.

Police say Montgomery had stolen the 2003 Ford Explorer, but did not release any details of when and where the vehicle was taken.

JPD says Montgomery was transported to Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. After being medically cleared, he was taken to the Dubois County Security Center.
