Interstate Traffic Stop Nets Drugs; Arrest

FERDINAND (NNDC) – Indiana State Police Jasper Post says a traffic stop along Interstate 64 Wednesday afternoon resulted in narcotics that were found in the possession of a passenger in the pickup truck that was pulled over.

ISP says shortly before 1:00PM, Trooper Brock Werne stopped the truck at the 61.5-mile marker (west of the Ferdinand Exit) for speeding.

ISP says during the stop, Werne and Trooper Brian LaRoche determined that 30-year old Bridget Vaughn of Scipio was in possession of several prescription medications not prescribed to her. Found in Vaugh’s possession was Clonazepam and Alprazolam (both Schedule IV controlled substances), as well as Hydrocodone, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Troopers say Vaughn also had several burnt marijuana cigarettes and five syringes in her possession.

Vaughn was taken into custody.  She is charged with a Level 6 felony count of possession of a syringe and misdemeanor counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV substance (two counts) and possession of marijuana.

The driver of the truck was not charged.
