Tomorrow is Cleanup Day at Patoka Lake

Lake CleanupPATOKA LAKE (NNDC) – Tomorrow is Cleanup Day at Patoka Lake, an annual event that helps ensure clean drinking water for more than 100,000 people in 11 Southern Indiana counties.

Volunteers help pick up trash that has accumulated along Patoka Lake’s shoreline. Last year 72 people assisted with the cleanup removing more than 1,300 pounds of trash, but lake officials say more help is needed this year.

Volunteer registration begins at 8 o’clock (EDT) tomorrow at Hoosier Hills Marina, which is located just off Highway 545 on the west end of the lake. Volunteers will receive specific information about where to pick up trash and will be provided with gloves, bug spray, trash bags, and grapplers. Volunteers are urged to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots. The cleanup ends at noon with a free lunch at the marina. Tee-shirts and prize giveaways for participating volunteers.
