Public Health Program Registration Deadline Extended

JASPER (NNDC) – The registration deadline for the Dubois County Public Health Partnership’s 6th annual program, scheduled Tuesday, September 15th, at the Huntingburg Event Center, has been extended. Originally scheduled for today (September 4), the deadline has been extended to Thursday, September 10.

The day long program will offer information and inspiration for adults and caregivers to improve their physical, mental, and social fitness. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. The day will feature speakers, a vendor fair, lunch, and door prizes.

Speakers include Maria Morris and Anita Shaw from HealthSouth Deaconess, who will present a comprehensive overview of the effect of a stroke. This includes the physical and emotional healing from a stroke for not only the patient but the caregiver. Other speakers will be John C. Smith from the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department who will speak on Fire Safety for Seniors. A panel discussion will be held on Health Care Decisions with presenters Megan Kelly from Gentiva Hospice, Sandi Trusty from Nass and Son Funeral Home, and Scotty Munning from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. Motivational speaker Pat Evans will speak on “Life…The Roller Coaster.” Am exercise demonstration will be provided by Kaci Verkamp of Memorial Hospital.
