Soccer Lady Wildcats Remain Unbeaten; Southridge Volleyballers Win At Loogootee (SCOREBOARD)

GIRLS SOCCER

Jasper 5  Floyd Central 2

At Jasper,  the Lady Wildcats, who are off to their best regular season start in school history, improved to 7-0 on the season with a 5-2 win at home against Floyd Central.   Just 30 seconds into the match, Madisyn Hunt found an open Brittany Haskins who put a far post shot into the net.   Jasper continued to control the match generating multiple scoring opportunities.   With eight minutes remaining in the first half, Kayla Thimling played a perfect through ball to Madisyn Hunt who outran the defense and hit a shot past the Floyd Central keeper.  Jasper led 2-1 at halftime.

At the 7-minute mark in the second half, Anna Charron sent a nice pass to Hunt for Jaspers third goal.   With eight minutes left in the match, Reagan Otto passed the ball to Hunt who again beat Floyd Central’s keeper.   With four minutes left, Jasper put the match away when Charron, for the second time, fed a through ball to Madisyn Hunt for her fourth goal of the game.

Jasper has outscored their opponents 43-5 in these first seven games of the 2015 season.   The Lady Wildcats travel to the Bloomington Hoosier Cup this weekend to face 1A #3 Evansville Mater Dei, 2A #22 Terre Haute North, and Plainfield.

Heritage Hills 5 Forest Park 2

At Bretzville, the Lady Rangers remain winless for the 2015 season losing at home to Pocket Athletic Conference rival Heritage Hills 5-2.

Emma Mehling and Shelby Louden scored Forest Park’s goals; Louden also had an assist.

Forest Park falls to 0-5 for the season; 0-2 in the PAC.

BOYS TENNIS

Northeast Dubois 5  North Daviess 0

At Elnora, the Jeeps remain undefeated with another 5-0 win.  As a team, Northeast Dubois lost only two games the entire match.  Northeast Dubois improves to 8-0 with the win.

At Montgomery, the host Vikings shut out Southridge.

VOLLEYBALL

Northeast Dubois 3 Perry Central 0

At Leopold, Jolynne Cruz’s Lady Jeeps get back into the win column with a three-game sweep over Perry Central.

Kyndal Green led Northeast Dubois with eight kills; she also had three service aces. Adison Denu had 10 digs defensively while both Alex Dodson and Claire Mangin had three blocks. Kennedy Neukam had eight assists offensively.

Southridge 3 Loogootee 2

At Loogootee, the Lady Raiders come up with a hard fought five game win (21-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 16-14).

Kayla Voegerl led Southridge with 14 kills and 34 digs. Sydney Altmeyer had eight kills for Southridge to go with 4 blocks. Kassidy Mundy also had four blocks to go with her seven kills.

Grace Kappner had 19 assists and Kathryn Brewer had 18 in the win. Boo Polly had 27 digs; she also had two aces.

Jasper 3 Mt. Vernon 2

At Mt. Vernon, it took the Lady Wildcats of Jasper five games to down the Lady Wildcats of Mt. Vernon in a Big 8 Conference matchup (25-19, 21-25, 20-25, 25-16, 15-9).

Michala Flamion led Jasper with 17 kills; she also lead Jasper with six aces. Teyah Leinenbach had 34 assists on the offensive side of the net and Sermersheim led Jasper 24 digs on defense. Reagan Hochmeister had a team high four blocks.

Pike Central 3 Forest Park 1

At Ferdinand, the Lady Rangers lose in four games to Pocket Athletic Conference foe Pike Central (21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 14-25)

Karissa Wollenmann led the Lady Rangers with 13 kills; she also had known. Devyn Tretter had 15 assists for Forest Park; Katelyn Tretter added 12. Madi Giesler had 18 digs defensively while aylor Bayer and Anna Becher added 10 each.

At Huntingburg Country Club, Hannah Schuler cards a round of 46 to lead the Lady Rangers to a win over county and Pocket Athletic Conference foe Southridge.

At Huntingburg, the host Lady Raiders easily win their annual “Ridge Invitational” meet. Of the five teams competing, only Southridge and second place South Spencer recorded team scores.  

The Lady Raiders took the top three spots in the meet with Lauren Meyer finishing first (21:18), followed by Casey Lamb (23:58) and Emily Eckert (24:11).

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Princeton 18  Springs Valley 46  Southridge 65  South Spencer NTS

In the boys meet of the “Ridge Invitational,” Princeton easily outdistanced the field taking the top three places and four of the top five.

Southridge’s top finisher was Ezra Butler who finished fourth (19:06)
