Oeding, Michael[1]Michael L. Oeding, 60, of Jasper, died Wednesday (August 26) at his home. He was born in Huntingburg July 12, 1955, to Linus and Marcella (Messmer) Oeding. He married Donna Krodel January 13, 1979, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mike was the assistant Parks and Recreation director for the City of Jasper since 1977. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Ireland Knights of Columbus, the¬†Jasper Gun Club, the Dubois County Sportsman’s Club, and the Indiana Parks and¬†Recreation Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Oeding; one daughter, Katie Hopf and husband Phil, Jasper; one son, Andy Oeding and wife Stephanie, Becker, Minnesota; two grandchildren, T.J. and Ava Oeding; his mother, Sally Oeding, Huntingburg; and two sisters, Sherri Lechner and husband Terry and Janet Meyer and husband Brian, all of Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his father, Linus Oeding.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Make a Wish Foundation, or the Dubois County Sportsman’s Club. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in Shiloh Cemetery. The Ireland Knights of Columbus will perform a memorial service at 6 p.m.
