In addition to the performance, the 30-minute PBS documentary “Shoeless Blues:  The Journey of Boscoe France” (which documents France’s life and how it changed after beating out more than 4,000 other guitarists) will be shown to kick off the evening of entertainment.

The evening of entertainment has been made possible through the generous support of Kimball Electronics.

Doors for the Saturday, October 3rd event will open at 5:30 p.m. (Eastern).  The documentary will begin at 7 p.m., and the Boscoe France Band will perform at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the event are on-sale now for $20 per and can be purchased online-only via www.TheNextAct.org or iTickets.com (www.itickets.com/events/350178).

If tickets are still available the day of the show, they can be purchased at the Astra when the doors open at 5:30 p.m.  All net proceeds from this general admission engagement will benefit Next Act’s ongoing campaign to purchase the iconic Astra Theatre.

In addition to the Saturday evening activities, on Friday, October 2nd, the Astra will also feature a screening of films entered into the Southwest Indiana Film Fest. The public is invited to stop in and watch several short films created for the second annual film festival.

Those attending will also decide the “Audience Choice” award for the submissions filmed in Dubois County. Doors open at 6 p.m. Films begin at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, October 4, the Greater Downtown Jasper Business Association will open the Astra for, potentially the last time in 2015, to show a children’s feature.  The matinee is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. and the feature has yet to be determined.  More information will be announced regarding the October 4 children’s matinee as it becomes available.

About the Next Act, Inc.

What would eventually become the Next Act, Inc., was established in 2014, initially as a group whose primary interest was to save, revive, and revitalize the Astra Theater in downtown Jasper. The group soon determined that the best and only feasible route to begin the long march toward achieving their lofty goal was to form a not-for-profit 501c3.  In doing so, the Next Act was born and it became increasingly clear to its founding members that the organizational mission was far greater than the Astra project. The modus operandi quickly became apparent. The Next Act was forming to not only save the Astra, but to foster, engage, and create cultural and artistic happenings and knowledge in Dubois County.  For additional information, visit www.TheNextAct.org, www.facebook.com/TheNextAct, or www.twitter.com/nextact_inc.
