Two Traffic Accidents Result in Over $22,000 in Damages

axJASPER (NNDC) – A pair of two-vehicle traffic accidents this weekend resulted in more than $22,000 dollars in damages.

The first occurred at 7:39 Friday evening at the intersection of State Road 56 and 350 West. Jasper Police Department officials report that a vehicle driven by Jose Lopez Diaz, 18, of Jasper, was stopped facing east at the intersection of State Road 56 and 350 West, waiting to turn north onto 350. The driver of a second vehicle, Harrison Seng, 17, of Jasper, attempted to pass Diaz’ vehicle on the left because he thought the driver was going to turn south. As Diaz turn northbound his vehicle was struck by Seng’s vehicle, resulting in $10,000 dollars damage to Diaz’ vehicle, $5,000 to Seng’s. Diaz was injured and transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center where he was treated and released.

Seng was cited for unsafe passing.

The second accident occurred Saturday morning at the intersection of Newton and 15 streets in Jasper. The police report states that a car driven by Russell Farris, 69, of Jasper, was westbound on 15th Street and one driven by Donna Weisman, 48, of Huntingburg, was northbound on Newton, approaching 15th, when they collided, resulting in $4,000 dollars damage to Farris’ sedan and $3,000 dollars damage to Weisman’s pickup truck.

Both drivers said they had the green light. No charges have been filed. JPD is requesting anyone with information on the accident contact them at 812 482-2255.
