JASPER (NNDC) – One person has been arrested and more could face charges as part of a Dubois County Sheriff’s Department investigation.

An anonymous tip to DCSD about possible drug dealing at a near north side home led to the arrest of 22-year old Kyle Watkins who lives at 228 West 15th Street.

DCSD deputies, with a search warrant in hand, say they found several items of drug paraphernalia in the house.

Watkins is charged with Maintaining a Common Nuisance (a Level 6 felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia (a Class A misdemeanor).

DCSD says their investigation also uncovered possible marijuana trafficking through the U.S. Postal Service.

Sgt. Stuart Wilson with DCSD says a suspect gave authorities a tracking number for a package that was to be delivered to Watkins’ house.  DCSD was able to find the package, with marijuana in it.  The package was located in a mail delivery truck in Jasper Thursday afternoon.

Wilson says a second search warrant was obtained by DCSD and this morning, with assistance from the local post office, another package containing marijuana was intercepted.  Wilson says the package contained 110 grams of high-grade marijuana.  Its street value was placed at $2,200.

Wilson says more times than not a tip to police does result in starting or advancing an investigation like this one…

Wilson says deputies and postal officials are working to locate any additional packages of marijuana.
