Jasper City Council Approves $180,000 To Modify Beaver Lake Dam & Spillway (VIDEO)

JASPER (NNDC) -After three years of trying to figure out why the water level at Beaver Lake fell by nearly a foot after a new dam & spillway were built, cabin owners and lake users as well as the city have come up a solution.

Beaver is the city’s backup water source (behind Patoka Reservoir).  Monday night, the Jasper Utility Services Board approved a plan to pay for the needed $334,400 dam & spillway modification.  In that amount was a loan of $180,000.  Wednesday night, the Jasper City Council, as a whole, said instead of a loan that would have to be guaranteed by current lake users, the governing body voted to use riverboat casino revenues to foot the bill and raise the lake…
