Certified Nursing Assistant Program Offered at VUJC


cna picJASPER (NNDC) – Vincennes University Jasper Campus is offering a Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) program this fall semester. The 105 hour program includes 30 classroom hours and 75 clinical hours. The curriculum provided at VUJC meets all required guidelines for nursing assistant training set forth by the Federal Government and the State of Indiana. Upon completion of the course each student is eligible to sit for the Indiana State CAN competency examination.

SEPTEMBER SESSION – EVENING: Classroom Instruction: Wednesday-Friday, September 23-25, 5:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 26, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Monday-Wednesday, September 28-30, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Clinicals begin October 1 (Some weekend hours are required for clinicals).

OCTOBER SESSION – DAY: Classroom Instruction: Monday-Thursday, October 19-22, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Clinicals begin October 23. (Some weekend hours are required for clinicals).

All applicants must attend a required orientation to learn program and clinical requirements, student rules, and policies, and take a basic reading and math test. Any student requiring disability assistance in testing should contact the VUJC office prior to orientation. Details will also be provided on the criminal background check, TB testing, required physical, and other important information.

The orientation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 6 p.m. in the VUJC Center for Technology., Innovation and Manufacturing Building, Theater. Registration will begin at at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 1. Payment in full or agency voucher required at time of registration.

Fee is $995, which includes all textbooks, materials, and state testing fees. Students will be responsible for the cost of the Indiana State Police criminal background check, physical exams, TB testing, and clinical scrubs. Typical student financial assistance through Pell Grants and other financial aid programs do not apply to this program. Tuition assistance may be available through WorkOne.
