Steven N. Goepfrich, 59, Celestine

GoephrichSteven N. Goepfrich, 59, of Celestine, died Friday (July 31) at his home. He was born in Huntingburg July 7, 1956, to Hilbert and Edna (Messmer) Goepfrich. He married Martha Sander on August 11, 1979 in St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine.

Steve worked for Merkley and Sons in Jasper for 28 years. He was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church, Celestine Community Club, and Celestine Park. He enjoyed “The Bond,” storytelling, and karaoke.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Goepfrich; two sons, Eric Goepfrich and wife Tonya, Dale, and Todd Goepfrich and wife Kelly, Celestine; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Viola Sander, Celestine; four sisters, Judy Tretter and husband Urb, Huntingburg, and Sandy Beckman and husband Joe, Karen Sander and husband John, and Janet Goepfrich, all of Jasper; and six brothers, Jim Goepfrich and wife Ruth, Ferdinand, and Tom Goepfrich and wife Patti, Leon Goepfrich and wife Darlene, Allan Goepfrich and wife Peggy, Mike Goepfrich and wife Alana, and Paul Goepfrich, all of Jasper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Kasen Goepfrich.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Celestine Church, the Celestine Fire Department, or the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center. Online condolences may be made at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
