Daryl R. Maxey, 76, Huntingburg

Daryl Maxey picDaryl R. Maxey, 76, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (July 22) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg November 5, 1938, to Dwight and Luella (Fehribach) Maxey. He married Carol Buechlein August 7, 1969, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Daryl was a barber for 56 years and worked at D.M.I. for 28 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener; and enjoyed woodworking and collecting Indian artifacts. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Maxey; one son, Jay A. Maxey and wife Amy, Huntingburg; one brother, Robert Maxey and wife Linda, Ferdinand; one sister, Marilyn Harter and husband Greg, Columbus; four grandchildren, Justine (Zach) Moesner and husband Zach, and Grace, Olivia, and Grant Maxey, all of Huntingburg; and two great-grandchildren, twins Evie and Max Moesner

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish vigil service will be held at p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Post No. 2366 memorial detail will conduct military graveside rites
