After Fulton starter Eddie Mathis struck out the first two Bomber batters, Nick Gobert reached on a single. Drake McNamara launched a shot over the short right field porch to give Dubois County a quick 2-0 advantage.

However, Mathis and Bombers’ starter Ryan Dills were matching each other strikeout for strikeout through the early innings. In six innings of work, Dills fanned ten. Mathis whiffed eight Bomber hitters in the same span.

Devyn Newberry added a solo home run in the top of the fifth to give Dubois County a 3-0 lead.

But the Railroaders started connecting off of Dills in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three to tie the game.

Dubois County added one in the sixth and three more in the seventh to go up 7-3.

McNamara led off the sixth with his second homer of the game and his fourth of the season.

A pair of Railroader errors, a wild pitch, and a hit batter all contributed to the three-run Bomber seventh. Jacob Snodgrass’ RBI single and a Mark Giesler sacrifice fly highlighted the inning.

Konner Eck relieved Dills in the seventh. Zachary Aring came on to nail down the final four outs after Fulton plated a pair in the 8th, making the final score 7-5.

Dills gets the win to go to 5-0. He is the only pitcher in the OVL with more than three wins. Mathis takes the loss to drop to 2-1. Aring gets his first save to go with his three victories.

With the win, the Bombers now stand at 21-9 with ten games remaining in the 2015 season. The victory guarantees Dubois County a winning record for the campaign.

The Bombers remain on the road tonight. They will travel to Madisonville to play the 15-11 Miners who are now in sole possession of second place, 4 games back of the Bombers.

The Bombers next home game will be Saturday against Fulton.
