Roger “Tubber” Klee, 72, Jasper

Tubber KleeRoger “Tubber” Klee, 72, of Jasper, died Saturday (June 27) at his home. He was born in Jasper December 4, 1942, to Linus and Aurelia (Seng) Klee. He married Mary Jane Steffen July 6, 1968, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Roger retired from the city of Jasper after 38 years of service, working first as a
lineman, and then as a meter reader. He was a veteran of six years of service with the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a member of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department for ten years, a member of American Legion Post No. 147, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and its Holy Name Society, was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed watching sports, playing cards,
gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

He us survived by his wife, Mary Jane Klee; one daughter, Angie Evans and husband Eric, Dale; three sons, Steve Klee and wife Renee’ , Cincinnati, Mark Klee and wife Dawn, Jasper, and Chris Klee and wife Charley, Evansville; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Melva Byrd and husband Bob, Lebanon, and Iris Gutgsell, Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. American Legion Post No. 147 will conduct military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Members of St. Joseph parish will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center, or to a favorite charity.
