Ferdinand 175 Preliminary Events Begin Sunday

Ferdinand 175thFERDINAND (NNDC) – Preliminary events are scheduled Sunday and Wednesday prior to the official opening of Celebrating 175, Ferdinand’s 175th Celebration, scheduled June 18-21.

Mass With the Bishop is scheduled at 9:30 Sunday morning at St. Ferdinand Church followed by Lunch With the Bishop at 11:30 in the Ferdinand Community Center. Also Sunday, the 175th Golf Scramble begins at 2 p.m. at Christmas Lake Village, the Little Miss and Mister Pageant at 2 p.m. in the Forest Park High School auditorium, and the Ferdinand 175th Queen Pageant at 6:30, also in the FPHS auditorium. Admission to each pageant is $5 dollars.

A homemade wine contest begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the Ferdinand Community Center.

After a magic show by Don Baggett at the YMCA at 1:30 p.m. June 18, Celebrating 175 officially kicks off that evening with opening ceremonies at 5 o’clock at the 18th Street Park main stage and the opening of the beer garden and food booths. The Celebration continues through June 21.with the Ferdinand 175th Parade on Main Street, beginning at 2 p.m.
