HAYSVILLE (NNDC) One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident along U. S. 231 between Jasper and Haysville late Tuesday afternoon.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says car driven by Jeffrey Sanders of Shoals was northbound on U. S. 231 just before the “Opal Bottoms” at about 4:25pm but he failed to see stopped traffic in front of him in time and collided into the back of a pickup truck driven by Edward Matheis (no address given).

DCSD says Sanders was transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for minor injuries. Matheis refused treatment at the scene. Sanders’ car was deemed a total loss (see picture). The pickup was driven from the scene by Matheis. Charges could be filed following further investigation.

HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – A 30-year old Huntingburg man has been arrested after police were called to his home on a complaint of possible drug use and a verbal altercation Tuesday morning.

HPD says Brandon Johnson was taken into custody after police arrived at his home in the 600 block of Bretz Street at about 8:30am.

HPD says Johnson is charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The charge was elevated to a Level 6 felony because Johnson has a prior conviction of the same offense.
