Richard S. Colman, 83, Dubois

Richard S. Colman, 83, of Dubois, died Saturday (June 6) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Brownsville, Kentucky, February 4, 1932, to  at Brownsville, Kentucky to Barney and Gladys (Rountree) Colman. He married Joyce Foy July 16, 1960, in Chicago.

Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in Japan. He retired from the U.S. Corp of Engineers and worked for many years at Patoka Lake. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing, auctions and watching Westerns movies.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Colman; one son, Keith Colman, Dubois; three daughters, Wonda Colman and fiancé Marc Fasnacht, Huntingburg, Barbara Wood and husband Bob, Jasper, and Janice Bates and husband William, Calhoun, Georgia; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Loretta Fentress and Lorene Cutright and husband Jerry, all of Charleston, Illinois, and Regina Swim , Mattoon, Illinois.

In addition to his parents, he was prededed in death by one grandson, David S. Wood, one brother, Floyd Colman, and four sisters, Helen Dailey, Rosetta Shafer, Dimple O’Dell, and Dorothy Groves. Three sisters and one brother died in infancy.

Graveside services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cuzco Cemetery. First Baptist Church in Jasper will conduct the graveside service. V.F.W. Post No. 673 in Jasper will conduct military grave side rites. Condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com.
