100+ Year Old Tree Brought Down After Wasp Gall Infestation (VIDEO)

JASPER (NNDC) – There are a variety of gall-forming species of small wasps commonly found on oak trees.  The Penn State University College of Agricultural sciences says once a gall begins to develop, its almost impossible to stop or reverse its development.

Now most galls cause little or no harm to the health of a tree, but heavy infestations of the small bulb-like gall can be fatal.

That’s what happened to a 120′ tall tree on Jasper’s near west side.  Unfortunately, the tree had to be brought down…
