Two Escape Serious Injury In Rollover Accident Near Ireland; Both Were Wearing Seatbelts

IRELAND (NNDC) – Two people escaped serious injury in a single-vehicle rollover crash southwest of Ireland Tuesday night.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 19-year old Ariel Wells of Jasper and a passenger, Zachary McCain (no age given) were sitting outside the vehicle when deputies arrived on scene at about 8pm.

DCSD says Wells was driving eastbound on West 50 North approaching North 750 West when she failed to negotiate a 90-degree curve in the road.  DCSD says the car ran off the eastside of the road and overturned at least once before coming to rest on its wheels.

Both Wells and McCain suffered minor injuries; DCSD credits the lesser injuries to the fact both were wearing seatbelts.   The car was a total loss.

DCSD says Wells suffered minor scrapes in the accident and was complaining of back pain; McCain also had minor scrapes.  They were both taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
