Memorial Wins Girls Track Regional; Southridge’s Aubrey Main Stands Out

Evansville Memorial claimed seven blue ribbons on the way to a solid victory Tuesday in the IHSAA Girls Track and Field Regional at Evansville Central. The Lady Tigers won with a team score of 96, far ahead of runnerup Floyd Central’s 45 and a half points. Castle was third with 44. Southridge, thanks to an outstanding performance by senior Aubrey Main, finished seventh with 34 points, Jasper finished 10th with 29, and Forest Park tied with Providence for 14th place with 15 points. The Raiders’ Main finished first in the 200 meter dash (26.61) and in the high jump (5’4”) and second in the 400 meter dash (59.12). Forest Park senior Taylor Tretter finished first in the pole vault with a blue ribbon height of 10 feet, 3 inches. Jasper claimed three third place ribbons, sophomore Annie Stout in the 400 meter run (59.36) and junior Hannah Welsh in the 3200 meter run (11:27.31).

IHSAA GIRLS TENNIS REGIONAL AT JASPER

Jasper and South Knox both posted 5-0 shutouts Tuesday in the opening round of the high school girls tennis regional at Jasper. The Lady Wildcats blanked Paoli, the Lady Spartans shut out Bloomfield. Jasper (17-5) and South Knox (17-1) will play tonight for the regional championship.

North Posey scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and held on for a 4 to 2 win over host Forest Park Wednesday in the high school girls 2A softball sectional at Bretzville. The loss ends the season for the Lady Rangers. They finish 9 and 15.

Tecumseh’s Madison Duncan pitched a 3-hit shutout Wednesday in the opening game of the high school girls 1A softball sectional at Oakland City. Duncan struck out five and walked one. Five Lady Jeep errors proved costly.

BOYS GOLF AT CHRISTMAS LAKE

Heritage Hills defeated Springs Valley and Southridge in a triangular golf match Tuesday at the Christmas Lake Golf Course. The Patriots Corey Teaford was medalist with a nine hole score of 36. Mitch Steinkamp was low for Southridge with a 45, John Pinnick posted a 41 for Valley.
