John L. Wehrle, 83, Jasper

JohnJohn L. Wehrle, 83, of Jasper, died Monday (May 25) at his home. He was born in Carmi, Illinois, August 8, 1931, Charles and Lola (Stokes) Wehrle. He married Debbie Thompson September 30, 2006, in Maui Hawaii.

John owned and operated the Jasper Nursing Center in Jasper for a number of years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked in special intelligence in Germany. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, enjoyed taking cruises and traveling, fishing, and spending Sundays with family.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Wehrle; one daughter, Alice Gee and husband Russell, Katy, Texas; two grandchildren, Jacob and Jaleen Gee; and one brother, George Wehrle and wife Ellen, Brownsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents..

Services at 11 a.m. Friday at Precious Blood Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Church or to Gentiva Hospice.
