William Fredrick “Bill” Lohman, 80, Huntingburg

Bill LohmanWilliam Fredrick “Bill” Lohman, 80, died Friday (May 22) at The Waters of Huntingburg. He was in Huntingburg December 18, 1934, Martin Henry and Helen Minerva (Kunz) Lohman. He married Linda Gayle Flamion September 10, 1960, in Huntingburg.

Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, spending 28 months in Africa. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Huntingburg Excavating Company and retired from Old Ben Coal Company. He was a member of VFW Post No. 2366 and UMWA Local No. 4343.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening, and was a NASCAR, Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts football.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Hasler and Doris Katterhenry; by one nephew.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gayle Lohman; two daughters, Jacqueline Schlachter and husband Mark, and Lori Fromme and husband Patrick, all of Ferdinand; one son, Kevin Lohman and wife Jackie, Holland; one step sister, Jerlene Peach, Evansville; one step brother, Joe Todrank, Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers in law, Dale Hasler, Santa Claus, and Glenn Katterenry, Evanville; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.

Services at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Rev. Jack Neighbors will officiate at the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 2366 Memorial Detail. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
